The humble beginnings Beulah Missionary Baptist Church started in 1916 in downtown Cincinnati. Over 100 years later and our mission remains the same - to seek the salvation of others, to grow in Christ and to carry out the instruction of God's Word . We carry out this mission with joyful hearts and welcoming spirit to all who wish to call Beulah "home"!
Our Story
Our story began in 1916. During this time many people were migrating from the South to the North. There were only five churches and two "store fronts" in the West End of Cincinnati. a band of Christians including Brother and Sister Cross, Sister Mullan and Reverend Hausler got together to organize a Baptist Mission on Hill Street in the later part of 1916. Soon after Rev. Hausler's health began to fail and Reverend David Reed was appointed to pastor the church. The church was given a new name "Beulah Baptist Church". As the church began to grow they moved out of their Hill Street home to 415 Central Avenue. Once moved Reverend Isaac Jones of St. John Baptist Church consulted with Rev. Reed to combine the churches and soon after membership grew to one thousand members. The Articles of Incorporation for Beulah Missionary Baptist Church were signed on October 2, 1928.
As years went by there were others called to pastor the church after Rev. Reed resigned. This included Rev. S. W. Toles (1923-1924), Rev. A Davis (1924-1928), Rev. Julius Bamberg (1924), Rev. J.S. Johnson (1934) and Rev. D.S. Glenn in 1942. Rev. Glenn served faithfully for 26 years and during his tenure purchased the property at Linn Street. Rev. Glenn appointed Rev. James Martin in 1968. Rev. James Martin served for 22 years until he was called to be home with the Lord.
In September, 1991, Beulah was blessed when Rev. John B. Ivey was sent to pastor Beulah Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Ivey arrived with a vision from the Lord which included innovative ministries designed to reach the masses both inside and outside of the church building. In June of 1998 the congregation moved from Linn St to 1834 Section Rd in the neighborhood of Roselawn. The congregation worshipped there for over 15 years before moving to its current location 8126 Hamilton Ave, Cincinnati, OH.

Having been led, as we believe by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior and, on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now in the presence of God, and this assembly host solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ.
We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this Church in knowledge, holiness, and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the Church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel through all nations.
We also engage to maintain family and secret devotions, to bring up our children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements, and exemplary in our deportment; to avoid all tattling, backbiting, and excessive anger; to abstain from the sale of, and use of intoxicating drinks as a beverage; to be zealous in our efforts to advance the kingdom of our Savior.
We further engage to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember one another in prayer; to aid one another in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and Christian courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation, and mindful of the rules of our Savior to secure it without delay. We moreover engage that when we remove from this place, we will, as soon as possible, unite with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God's Word.
